Parish Council Meet

Oct 22, 2024

 

Meeting started at 7:05 pm. Attendance: Fathe Leo, Sid Jensen, John Giuutoli, Elena Gomez, Veronica Crane, Joe Surges, Julie Buscaglia, Trudy Jensen, Dave Pastori, Runette Peralta, and Jesse Peralta.

Father Leo led the opening prayer

Pastor Report

VIRTUS training on Oct 12 was very well attended. 30 people for the class session and 40 for fingerprinting.

Anyone not printed needs to contact the office so they can get it done. Training can be done online.

All Saints Day, November 1st, masses at 11:00 am and 6:00 pm

All Souls Day, November 2nd 9:00am

Annual Memorial Mass, November 9th 10:30 am

Fest of the Immaculate Conception, December 9th 9:00am

The 4:30 Saturday Choir is donating a screen and projector for putting lyrics up so congregation can follow along.

Old Business

Maintenance Report

Sid reported an issue with flagpole in front of the rectory. Flags keep getting caught and tearing. Will look at removing cross to see it that helps.

Carpet in CCD building being torn up to replace with new flooring tiles.

Web Page

Weekly bulletins and articles posted on web pages. Joe now can post minutes from meetings.

Faith Formation

1st Communion has 4 candidates, 2 will receive in May.

There are 11 Confirmation candidates, 7 will be making confirmation on May 18th at the 9:00 am mass.

Finance

Discussion held on the recent Diocesan Audit. The committee made several recommendations to Father Leo based on the audit. Some items are just not feasible for our small parish and limited volunteers.

Accounting firm has updates QuickBooks with the latest addition of the software.

St. Rose is showing a loss at this point in the year, we are $6642.19 in the red. Some monies will have to be moved from the saving account to cover.

Organizations

ICF had their annual Polenta Dinner, which was very well attended as usual. Over 125 meals were served in total.

Fundraising

Coffee and Canvas held in September brought in $765.00

Enchilada plate sale for Guadalupe Festival brought in $1186.00. Expenses still need to be deducted.

Purchases

Purchase of AEDs is moving forward for church and hall. Grant application was submitted to Community Foundation for mini grant for the one for the hall since that is used man town organizations and rented to the public.

Sid is still working on plans for candle shrine.

Council Position rotation

Still open for nominations for Chair and Secretary positions. New positions will take effect January 1st, 2025. Father has spoken to several people, but nominations are still open.

CCD Building Rental

Have not heard from the Diocese office after two inquiries. Joe contacted person who assisted last time but has not heard any reply.
