ST. ROSE FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING

In attendance: Father Leo, Nancy Miller (by phone), Jesse Peralta,

Father Leo led the group in prayer.
*MOTION: Joe Surges made a motion to approve the August minutes. Donna Hoffmann seconded the motion. Approved.
Father Leo mentioned there would be no Parish Council meeting.
Donna Hoffmann announced the ICF Polenta Dinner will be on October 24. Tickets will be sold at the next meeting.
Joe Surges reported St. Patrick Parish is in the black: $36,353.79. He is getting bids for a new roof. The congregation at St. Patrick is averaging 15 people; some regulars, some out-of-towners.
Review of St. Rose Parish finances reiterated by Nancy Miller: ending checking account balance $4961.74; Dedicated Funds as of August 31, $73,246.86; Living Memorial $25,890.16; locksmith expense $1269.19.
Profit and Loss January through August: Total Income $145,455 at 64%. Last year at same time $134,630.
End up with net income -$12,426.05. Nancy asked why? How did we lose $3000? Could it be an accounting error? Looking at ‘Expense,’ anything that can be cut down? PG&E? Audit suggestion? Maintenance?
Jesse Peralta and Fundraisers: November 7, Masquerade Ball, All Souls Day, Christmas Market.
The new candle holder, where does that money go?
Discussion: envelopes for Living Memorial along with tree in vestibule holding envelopes and e.g., All Souls Day; also leaving tree up indefinitely. *MOTION: Sylvia Smith made a motion to have a tree with envelopes hanging from branches. Jesse Peralta seconded the motion. Approved.
Jesse and Ranette will design and build the tree.
Nancy also would like to emphasize that any expense that comes to mind, one should let the Finance Committee know about it.
Need to prosper and grow.
Nancy reminded the Committee St. Rose will need to pay the Diocese the assessment and also go to the Bishop’s Appeal.
Father Leo’s bathroom cost with one bid $12,000. Will be seeking other bids.
Barbara Denton gave a review of what the Save St. Rose Steering Committee has been planning: the Position Paper, according to the attorney, needs some revision. He wants data points, hard data, story of St. Rose Parish, what’s happened over the last 5 years financially.
Barbara stated to protect Father Leo, he is not to participate in any of the Steering Committee meetings.
Donna Hoffmann mentioned she introduced herself to Bishop Barber along with a photo of the two of them.
Next meeting will be October 28, Wednesday, at 1:00 p.m.
